Jula Juli Bintang Tujuh: a Cathay Keris Classic

15 Feb

Here’s a taste of the grace, charm and simplicity of the Cathay Keris films of old: the black and white opening sequence from Jula Juli Bintang Tujuh.

The music for this (and many other Cathay Keris productions was by Zubir Said, who composed Majulah Singapura( Onward Singapore), the Republic’s national anthem. Zubir worked in the film industry for over a decade, composing many Malay numbers. Yet, out of the approximately 1,500 songs he wrote, only a handful were ever recorded.

En joi!
